The field of GPU mining industry will be reshaped by iPollo’s mass-produced V-series ETH-specific mining machines

The report details how iPollo, an industry leader in cryptocurrency mining machines, recently produced a large number of its V-series ETH-specific mining machines. This model differs from the Previous GPU mining equipment that was available in the mainstream market: it is equipped with a cuckoo high-speed computing chip, which was independently developed by chipmaker Nano Labs. This new chip is capable of significantly improving the efficiency of ETH mining.

There are currently four machine models on the market:

  1. V ETH miner (power: 2400W, hash rate: 3600MH/s) for professional miners;
  2. V1 mini ETH Miner (power consumption: 240W, hash rate: 300MH/s) for individual miners;
  3. V1 mini Classic ETC Miner (approximate power consumption: 104W, hash rate: 130MH/s) for individual ETC miners;
  4. V1 Classic ETC Miner (power consumption approx: 1248W, hash rate: 1560MH/s) for professional ETC miners.

Compared with traditional GPU mining machines, iPollo’s V Miner series of specific mining machines are able to achieve higher mining efficiency and lower power consumption, which would increase up to 4 to 6 times the efficiency. This means that in the context of current computing power, these new machines can geometrically reduce the electricity needs of ETH mining activities.

Since 2020, the price of ETH in the secondary market has continued to rise, and high supply demands from miners for GPU mining have driven up the price of global GPUs. The specific mining machines recently launched by iPollo mark the transition of Ethereum mining from the GPU era to the Asic era. With the increase in the production of specific equipment, the mining market, which accounts for approximately 40% of global GPU shipments, could see a complete upgrade of its required equipment. Industry insiders said that this developing situation has seen many rig companies engaged in ETH mining drastically reduce their demand for GPU devices, which has also affected GPI prices: The official price of the Consumer GUP has been reduced by around 10% to 30% since March, and this trend is expected to continue.

Ethereum mining activities have always been criticized for their high power consumption and the much-discussed ETH 2.0 and POS migration plan is essentially an attempt to solve the problem of energy consumption in mining activities; however, it was constantly delayed due to the complexity of its technical implementation. The launch of these new efficient ETH-specific mining machines could give the industry a new boost, as they focus on reducing energy consumption in mining activities through technical means, rather than requiring the complete abandonment of POW benefits. In addition, their low power consumption allows users and miners around the world to participate, achieve better decentralization and offer better security to ETH networks.

Given the mass production of the new V Miner series and the launch of similar ETH-specific mining machines by other potential players in the industry, the much-vaunted and seemingly elusive ETH 2.0 upgrade seems increasingly moreover useless.
