July 29, 2022, New Delhi: If your business spans from farm to fork, here’s a chance to get expert mentorship at an ICRISAT-led online boot camp
The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and The Entrepreneur Zone (TEZ) are inviting applications from entrepreneurs and innovators for its online Agricultural Business Ideas Boot Camp and food. The camp hosted by ICRISAT’s Agri-Business Incubator (ABI) will be held August 3-5, 2022.
The three-day program is aimed at entrepreneurs considering entering the field of agriculture and agribusiness start-ups and start-up companies looking to calibrate their business model. Sessions will cover emerging entrepreneurship opportunities in the agribusiness sector, guide participants in developing the problem statement and value proposition, build the business model, and provide an overview of the agri-tech support system.
“The camp provides a platform for entrepreneurs to discuss their business idea in upcoming sectors such as agri-fintech, on-farm value addition, resilience and climate change adaptation with our experts “said Mr. Aravazhi Selvaraj, CEO, Agribusiness and Innovation Platform, ICRISAT.
The training will include a one-on-one mentoring session with ICRISAT and the TEZ incubation team. Prominent experts in the field like Dr. S Glory Swarupa, Director General, National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME); Dr. Nandita Sethi, Managing Director, TEZ; Viiveck Verma, Impact Director, Recyckal Foundation; Dr. Sairam Paricherla, Co-Founder, Urban Kisaan and Dr. Saravanan Raj, Managing Director, Center for Innovation and Agribusiness (CIA)-MANAGE will interact with attendees.
Brief history: ABI-ICRISAT launched the Agri-Tech Business Ideas Camp in 2017 and has seen the participation of over 100 entrepreneurs over the past five years. The success story of Gopalakrishnan K, a 2018 camp participant who started GramworkX Agrotech Pvt Ltd, is just one of many. His start-up provides real-time advice and information to farmers and agricultural businesses on water needs, crop advice and pest control for each crop grown. It was acquired by Waycool Foods in 2022.
